Why choose WebP as the output
WebP files are typically much lighter than JPG or PNG at similar visual quality, and all current browsers can display them. Smaller images mean faster page loads, better search performance and lower hosting bills.
Unlike JPG, WebP supports transparency, so a PNG logo or icon can be converted without gaining a white background.
Where WebP may not work
Some older programs, email clients and print workflows still cannot read WebP. If the image is destined for those, keep a JPG or PNG copy, and use WebP for the version you publish online.
